Glucose Beacon Privacy Policy
EFFECTIVE DATE: September 29, 2026Glucose Beacon is a simple app that reads your glucose level out loud. It was built to collect as little information as possible. This policy explains, in plain language, what information the app uses, where it goes, and the choices you have.
The short version
• Your LibreLinkUp email, password and glucose readings stay on your device. They are only sent to Abbott’s LibreLinkUp service, to fetch your readings.
• To manage your 7-day free trial, we store one scrambled identifier and the date your trial started. Nothing else.
• We do not show ads, track you, sell your information, or share your glucose data with anyone.
***
1. WHO WE ARE
Glucose Beacon is operated by Social Facade INC. You can contact us at info@inthewildapp.com
Glucose Beacon is an independent app. It is not made, supported or endorsed by Abbott, FreeStyle Libre or LibreLinkUp.
2. INFORMATION THE APP USES
Your LibreLinkUp login. You enter the email address and password for your LibreLinkUp account so the app can sign in and get your readings. Your login is saved only on your device, so you don’t have to type it each time. It is sent only to Abbott’s LibreLinkUp servers (libreview.io) to sign you in. We never receive or store it.
Your glucose readings. The app downloads your latest glucose reading and trend from LibreLinkUp and reads it aloud. Readings are handled on your device only. They are never sent to us or to anyone else. The app does not read from or write to Apple Health or Google Health Connect.
Free trial record. The first time you sign in, the app creates a record so the 7-day free trial can only be used once per Libre sensor user. The record contains:
• a scrambled identifier, created on your device by passing your Libre account’s patient ID through a one-way SHA-256 hash, and
• the date and time your trial started.
It contains no name, email address, password or glucose data. This record is stored with Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore). As part of running that service, Google may process technical information such as your IP address. See Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Subscriptions. If you subscribe, the purchase is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details. The app only asks the store whether your subscription is active, so it knows whether to keep reading your glucose.
Settings. Your preferences, such as region, reading interval, volume, units and voice, are saved on your device only.
Notifications. If you allow notifications, the app shows notices such as “your free trial ends within a day.” These are created on your device and do not use a push notification service.
Crash and error reports. To find and fix problems, the app uses Google Firebase Crashlytics. If the app crashes or something goes wrong (for example, it can’t reach LibreLinkUp or the App Store), it sends a report with technical details such as your device model, operating system version, app version, a Crashlytics installation ID and a short description of the problem. These reports never include your glucose readings, email address or password, and they are not used for advertising or tracking. See Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
What we don’t collect. We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers or usage analytics. The app contains no advertising and no third-party tracking.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use the information above only to:
• sign in to LibreLinkUp and read your glucose aloud,
• manage your free trial and check your subscription, and
• respond to you if you contact us.
We do not use your information for advertising or profiling. We do not sell or rent it.
4. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION
We share information only with the services the app needs to work:
• Abbott’s LibreLinkUp service, to sign you in and get your readings (see Abbott’s privacy policy for how they handle your data),
• Google Firebase, to store the free trial record and crash and error reports,
• Apple or Google, to process subscriptions.
We may also disclose information if required by law, such as a court order.
5. HOW LONG WE KEEP INFORMATION
Your login, readings and settings stay on your device until you delete the app or clear its data. The free trial record is kept so the trial can’t be restarted. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
6. SECURITY
All connections to LibreLinkUp, Firebase and the app stores use encrypted HTTPS. The free trial database only lets the app create a trial record once and read it back. It cannot be changed, listed or deleted from the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the information we hold to a minimum.
7. YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS
• You can stop all data use by the app at any time by uninstalling it.
• You can turn notifications on or off in your device’s settings.
• You can cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
• Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have the right to access or delete information held about you, or to complain to a data protection authority. To make a request, email info@inthewildapp.com. Because the trial record doesn’t contain your name or email, we may ask you for details that help us find it.
8. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
Glucose Beacon is intended for adults, including parents and caregivers who monitor a family member’s glucose. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The only information stored outside your device is the scrambled free trial record described above.
9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this policy and the effective date above. We will let you know in the app if a change is significant.
10. HOW TO CONTACT US
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, email info@inthewildapp.com.
